Transforming aviation

A global aviation company needed a smarter, more interactive way to train its teams. This game-changing upgrade is now the gold standard and is being rolled out to training centres worldwide. See how technology is transforming aviation training on a global scale.

The Need for a More Modern Training Space

A leading global aviation company wanted to improve its training simulation rooms, recognising that its existing setup was outdated and not as interactive as it could be. Instructors found the AV systems difficult to use, making it harder to deliver seamless training sessions. There was also no easy way to manage multiple participant feeds, which limited how engaging and effective the training could be.

With plans to expand their training facilities worldwide, the company needed an AV solution that was modern, easy to operate, and scalable. The goal was to create a training environment that made learning more interactive while ensuring instructors could manage sessions with ease.

A Smarter, More Interactive AV Solution

To bring the training rooms up to date, each space was fitted with four 86-inch ViewSonic multi-touch displays, allowing trainees to interact directly with the content. These displays were integrated with a ZeeVee AVOIP system, ensuring smooth, high-quality video and audio distribution. To make the setup as user-friendly as possible, a centrally controlled Cue System interface was introduced, allowing instructors to operate everything effortlessly.

This upgrade wasn’t just about improving the training experience—it also provided a scalable model that could be rolled out across the company’s global locations, ensuring consistency and efficiency wherever the training took place.

Challenges with the Old System

Before the upgrade, the training rooms faced several issues that impacted how well they functioned. The AV setup was overly complex, making it difficult for instructors to get sessions running smoothly. There was no efficient way to display multiple participant feeds at once, which made simulation exercises less engaging. The lack of interactive technology also meant that training wasn’t as dynamic or hands-on as it needed to be.

To tackle these challenges, the company required a solution that was not only powerful and high-quality but also intuitive enough for instructors to use without technical difficulties.

Delivering the Right Technology

The solution was designed to be both cutting-edge and easy to use. The ViewSonic multi-touch displays gave trainees a more interactive and engaging experience, while the ZeeVee AVOIP system ensured that all video and audio feeds were distributed smoothly, without lag. The Cue System control interface simplified everything, allowing instructors to manage the AV setup at the touch of a button.

With this setup, multiple participant feeds could be seamlessly displayed, making training exercises far more immersive. The combination of these technologies created an environment where both instructors and trainees could focus on learning rather than worrying about AV issues.

A Smooth Installation Process

The project was carefully planned to ensure a smooth transition to the new system. First, the team assessed the company’s training needs and designed a tailored AV solution. Next, the new technology, including the multi-touch displays and ZeeVee AVOIP infrastructure, was installed in each training room. Once the hardware was in place, the systems were fully integrated, with the Cue System set up for easy operation. Finally, thorough testing was carried out, followed by training sessions to ensure instructors felt comfortable using the new setup.

Overcoming Challenges Along the Way

As with any large AV upgrade, there were some hurdles to overcome. One of the main challenges was ensuring that multiple participant feeds could be managed smoothly in real-time. This was resolved by optimising the ZeeVee AVOIP system, which allowed for low-latency video and audio transmission. Another challenge was making the system easy to use for instructors who weren’t necessarily AV experts. The Cue System played a crucial role here, providing an intuitive interface that required minimal training to operate.

The Impact: A More Engaging and Efficient Training Experience

The results of the AV upgrade were felt immediately. Training sessions became more interactive, with instructors able to seamlessly manage and adapt the environment to meet different learning needs. The new system significantly reduced session setup times by as much as 50%, allowing instructors to focus more on delivering high-quality training.

Feedback from trainees showed a noticeable improvement in engagement levels, with many reporting a more immersive and effective learning experience. The scalable nature of the new system also meant that the company could confidently roll out similar upgrades to other locations, ensuring consistent training quality worldwide.

Positive Feedback and Future Plans

The client was extremely pleased with the transformation. They highlighted how the intuitive control system and interactive displays had made a huge difference in how training sessions were delivered. Instructors could now focus on teaching rather than troubleshooting AV issues, leading to smoother and more effective sessions. Given the success of this project, the company is now planning to expand the solution to even more training centres around the world.

Setting the Standard for Future Training Spaces

This project is a prime example of how the right AV technology can completely transform a training environment. By integrating user-friendly controls, high-quality displays, and a reliable AV infrastructure, the company has created a model that is now being implemented globally.

With this AV setup now officially adopted as the standard training room configuration, the company is deploying it across multiple sites worldwide, ensuring a consistent, high-quality learning experience for all trainees. This approach not only enhances day-to-day training but also strengthens the company’s ability to scale its operations and maintain excellence in aviation training for years to come.
