Tell us a bit about your work history:
My work history started out at Wilko, typical 16-year-old wanting money during college to spend and to buy to save up to get a car, was there until they went bust! I then worked in London as a Fortnite coach. From there I went to Workspace AV as an installation engineer, was there for 6 months when I realised being on the tools wasn’t for me. I then went and worked for a massive logistics company in my hometown driving a forklift, loading and unloading stock for people. After a year driving a forklift, I was fortunate enough to be asked to come back to Workspace AV to be in my current role as an AV Helpdesk Engineer, much better for me being on a computer!
What does your typical working day look like?
My typical working day starts at 9am, being in the office and looking at the tickets that have come in overnight and liaising with the customers to solve the issues at hand. Some of which are simply alarm tickets saying devices have gone offline to having to schedule an engineer to fix the issue physically if myself or the team can’t fix it remotely. I’ll also be helping in the office / warehouse wherever I can as well as doing courses to help me further extend my knowledge around AV systems.
What’s your favourite thing about your job?
I love the different challenges we have to face day-to-day, one day it can be an easy fix and the next we are all buckling our heads down trying to solve the task at hand. I also love the how much I am learning, constantly building my knowledge base to help not only myself but the customers also. Everyone in the office also makes the job super enjoyable, being able to work alongside them is something I am incredibly grateful for, if I ever need help, I always have someone that is happy to assist me.
What do you think are the three biggest skills you bring to work?
My attention to detail, my communication and being able to work well in a team.
What are the key ingredients you think help create a happy workplace?
The ability for everyone to work well together, a strong positive attitude to be able to get the job done and having a sense of humour does always help.
Outside of work, where are you happiest?
I am happiest down at the beach with all my family and friends. I also have a huge smile on my face when I get the pleasure of driving around in my little red car and if I am unlucky enough to be doing neither of those then having some scrambled egg on toast will suffice me.
Name one interesting fact people might not know about you:
I have represented England on an international scale during college playing video games and from that I have done talks for Microsoft, colleges and British Esports Association about Esports in England which made me start my own esports brand.
