Tell us a bit about your work history:
Like many in the AV industry, I fell into it somewhat by chance. My career in AV began over 15 years ago, during which I’ve held various roles, including Service Desk Coordinator, Sales Administrator, and Internal Sales, before finding my true calling as an Account Manager/Director. I spent 11 years with one of the largest AV integrators but have since found greater fulfilment working with small to mid-sized integrators, where I can have a more hands-on impact and build deeper client relationships.
What does your typical working day look like?
No two days are ever the same! My day could involve working from home, doing admin, preparing quotes and proposals, collaborating with colleagues in the office, or out visiting clients to discuss projects and build relationships. The variety keeps things interesting.
What’s your favourite thing about your job?
The best part of my role is building real, long-lasting relationships with clients. I take pride in ensuring they know we are trustworthy and have their best interests at the heart of everything we do. There’s nothing more rewarding than receiving positive feedback at the end of a successful project!
What do you think are the three biggest skills you bring to work?
I’d say my top three strengths are:
Keeping things moving to get the job done.
What are the key ingredients you think help create a happy workplace?
A happy workplace starts with trust, having managers who empower their employees without the need to micromanage. Approachability is also key, where both leadership and colleagues welcome open feedback and collaboration. Most importantly, a company culture built around like-minded people who share the same ethos fosters a positive and motivated work environment.
Outside of work, where are you happiest?
I’m happiest when spending time with my nieces and nephews or traveling with my partner. Creating memories with loved ones is what matters most to me.
Name one interesting fact people might not know about you:
Two years ago, my partner and I took a four-month break from work to travel the world! We explored Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Japan, Thailand, and Cambodia. One of my biggest achievements during that trip was completing a 12m (climbing nearly 800m in altitude) hike up an active volcano in New Zealand, which took almost 8 hours! Considering I’m not a hiker, this was a huge personal milestone (and yes, I complained the whole way up! 😂).
